It was a bit of a weird summer for Central New Yorkers this year. We were hit with some whacky weather that led to some flooding or flat out heat spells. We had a lot of success with a season full of events from Pirate Weekend to Floati Gras, Vettes At The Beach and the usual Fourth of July fireworks show.
The Utica Observer Dispatch recently came to Sylvan Beach to talk about the summer as a whole. Here are some highlights from the article the paper wrote.
“If you consider the fact that this year it rained and the weather wasn’t too good, and the economy is very difficult — we had a fantastic year,” said Joe Farnach, owner of Cinderella’s Restaurant Bar and Suites in Sylvan Beach. “Parking revenues, I believe, are the same or up from last year for the village. Our business is actually up a little bit.”
“The last month has been terrific,” he said.
Most of those customers come from all over Central New York, he said.
“We have good customers — we have a great customer base,” he said. “That’s what’s kept us going in our 35 years of business.”
