Pirate Parade a First For Sylvan Beach

Thursday, June 28th, 2013 —

Sylvan Beach welcomes Pirates Weekend in Sylvan Beach. A first for the area, this year’s upcoming event promises to be a weekend to remember.

Amusement Park…Check.
Delicious Seafood…Check.
Beach…Check.
Pirates…Well, soon.

No, Johnny Depp is not coming to Sylvan Beach with Orlando Bloom dressed in full pirate garb but on July 20th Sylvan Beach will transform into a haven for pirate lovers during the Pirate Parade!

The parade officially begins at the beach front parking lot at noon on Saturday, July 21st, then starts down Park Ave to Main Street, turning left onto Main Street, proceeding North down Main Street, past the reviewing stand located just North of Cinderella’s and continuing on until dispersing in an orderly manner on to Fifteenth Ave.

Line-up begins promptly at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 20, 2013 in the beach front parking lot and will feature music provided by the 93Q Boom Box.

Organizers of the parade urge patrons to not trespass on residential property during the parade formation process. Respect your neighbors. If you damage any property, your group will be held responsible for costs incurred as a result…So basically don’t act like a pirate would in that regard.

pirates-at-the-beach-childThe first annual Pirate Parade is a family event and we expect that dignity and safety will be preserved by the enforcement of all rules and regulations. No alcoholic beverages or illegal substances will be allowed on or near any vehicle or to be used by any parade participant. Candy and/or favors cannot be thrown from moving vehicles/ floats. You may however choose to do so by using walkers to hand out candy or other appropriate items such as beads.

The parade isn’t the only thing Pirate’s Weekend has in store for Saturday.
