Pirate’s Weekend will be expanding and getting even bigger! Join us for this year’s Pirate’s Weekend in Sylvan Beach. The 2019 Sylvan Beach Pirate’s Weekend is Thursday, July 18th – Sunday, July 21st. The weekend will be filled with activities and events for people of all ages. Check out the list of events, and make sure to join us for the Pirate’s Parade on Saturday! Each day of Pirate’s Weekend brings activities for friends, family and neighbors alike! Check out what’s going on each day and make sure to check back for more to be added!
Pirate’s Weekend will feature our famous Pirate pub crawl, beach treasure hunts, live music, bonfire, sand castle building contest, and Miller Lite recovery specials! You won’t want to miss the adventure; so bring your best pirate spirit (voice, costume, and peg leg optional) for this community-wide event that brings people, and pirates, to Sylvan Beach!

Grab yer pirate hat and decorate yerself for the 4th annual Pirate’s Weekend 5K event. Enjoy a 3.2 mile run/walk through the beautiful village of Sylvan Beach. This is a pirate’s party race for the entire family, therefore, strollers and dogs are welcome! The race will begin on Sunset Boulevard adjacent to Canal View Cafe. There will be free parking for participants as well as bathrooms available. The first 150 pre- registered participants will receive a free t-shirt.
Aside from the fun stuff, your participation supports a great cause. Proceeds from the Pirate 5K Rum Runner benefit Sitrin’s Military Rehabilitation Program.
2019 Events:
Thursday July 18
- 5:00 pm- Pirate Invasion: Coming by boat to the pier, near the bridge pirates invade the beach. Upon capturing a local celebrity at the Crazy Clam they will proceed to the village park near Eddies. Pirate flags displayed in village.
- The mayor will officially sanction Pirates Weekend by raising the pirate flag – Bandstand
- Pirate Activities throughout the village.
- 5:45 pm – The Pirate kidnapping of a local celebrity will be held for ransom! The captured will be brought too many businesses to obtain ransom for release. All proceeds will benefit local organizations including the Sylvan Beach Volunteer Fire Department.
- Various entertainment venues at local businesses.
Friday July 19
- 5 pm – Pirate Activities throughout the village.
- 7 pm – 10 pm – Best of the beach pirates Grog Crawl! Sponsored by Miller Lite. Participating establishments will have available signature pirate grog for sampling throughout the area. Prizes! Drawing @ 11:00 PM, Sunset Grill. Punch Cards available at all participating businesses.
- Crafter, Antiques, Vendors throughout the village.
- Various entertainment venues at local businesses.
Saturday July 20 – Family Fun Day
- 9 am – Breakfast with Pirates, Pancake House, Main street
- 9 am Crafters, Antiques, and Vendor’s throughout the village.
- 10 am – Pirate’s Booty Treasure Hunt on the beach at 15th Ave; dig for buried gold coins and redeem for a toy at the “treasure chest.”
- 11am – Pirate Activities at the village band stand including face painting, hat making
- 12 pm – “How to Be a Pirate” class hosted by Captain Jack at the village bandstand.
- 1 pm – 6th Annual “Pirate Parade” begins south of the village and moves on Park Ave. north on to Route 13 north then ends
- 3 pm -Earth Club Treasure Hunting on the beach at 13th Ave
- 3 – 5 pm The Paddy Nappers Pirate Band in the park
- Radio broadcast live on location.
- 7:00 – Pirate Zombie Walk starts at Captain John’s continues to beach front ends at Bon Fire.
- 8:30 pm – Family Bonfire on the beach at 15th Ave.
- 9:30 pm – Pirate Fireworks on the beach.
- Various entertainment venues at local businesses.
