Get out your fishing poles and lures! Walleye fishing season starts at Midnight on May 1 this year and Sylvan Beach is the best place to start. Here are a few tips to get you started:

• Walleye usually feed under low light periods so a popular time for them to be active is just before and after sunset
• Start by fishing near the bottom. Walleye tend to be within a foot or two of the bottom with some exceptions.
• Walleye tend to be found in some unexpected locations at unusual times so it may be a good idea to think outside the box when the usual methods or fishing spots don’t work out.
